What is the CES code?

CES, or Secure Electronic Commerce, is a system that allows securing sales transactions on the internet, meaning that the customer identifies as the legitimate holder of the card being used.

To do this, during the purchase process, a page will be presented for you to enter an authentication key. In this way, when the transaction is processed, it can be guaranteed that the card user is the legitimate holder of the card. The fact that a transaction is secure may imply, according to the current Visa and Mastercard regulations and depending on the contract with your bank, that the merchant has protection (payment guarantee) against chargebacks by the cardholder in cases where the cardholder denies participation in the purchase, without prejudice to the consumer rights contemplated in the Law.

To use this payment system, it is necessary for the cardholder to register for the service through their Bank. If you have not yet received a personal key exclusively for internet payments, we advise you to ask your financial institution to link your cards to the Secure Electronic Commerce service. To do this, you can contact your bank or, if you are an online banking customer, you can request it directly online.
